PSG LEFT DISAPPOINTED

The French club PSG were extremely disappointed in the second group match of the Champions league after they were beaten by the Portuguese club FC Porto 1-0. This has left them in a difficult situation to qualify to the knockout stages of the competition. Speaking after the match, the PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti said that the lack of experience of playing in European competitions certainly cost the club. Despite having one of the best squads in Europe, PSG were unable to create any major openings in the match. They were coming into the match on the back of a good run of form in the domestic competitions.

The former AC Milan and Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was certainly one of the better players for PSG over the last few weeks, but he did not create a lot of good chances for scoring in the match against FC Porto. The solitary goal by James Rodriguez was enough to condemn PSG to a defeat in the match. Ancelotti has said that there is no cause for concern because this is the first defeat of the season for them. He has said that not playing regularly in the European elite competition was one of the reasons behind the defeat.

“It’s our first defeat this season, but it’s no wonder we lost because we faced a team more experienced than we are. We have not yet got enough experience to come here on a level playing field. Porto have many qualities and a strong identity. We need a little more time. We are disappointed, however, because we wanted to produce a better game here. The fact is, that wasn’t possible and we must accept it,” said Ancelotti after the match. PSG will be having a crunch match against the table leaders Marseille during the weekend.
