PSG KICK ON

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and PSG kicked off the 2014 in a superb fashion as the Swedish striker secured a hat-trick that helped his side defeat Stade Brestois with a final scoreboard of 5-2 as they secured their spot into the next round of the Coupe de France.

Following the conclusion of the match Ibrahimovic said: “It wasn’t an easy match. It’s never easy to play good football on a difficult pitch. We are very happy to have qualified. I am very happy to have started the year with three goals. Now we have to focus on the next game.”

PSG’s Al-Khelaifi rejected the claims that the French side was ever interested in signing C.Ronaldo of Real Madrid.

“All the players we are dreaming about are already at PSG,” said al-Khelaifi. “Ronaldo is a huge player we respect a lot. But he is under contract at Real Madrid, who I respect a lot too. The day I really want a Real player, believe me I will know to talk to President Florentino Perez. It is not the case so far.”

While just about every top European club are searching around the transfer market hoping to make a move for potential new signings that can help solve some of their problems, PSG does not have to go through those stages.

The French side is at the top of their league and is favorites on making it through the next stages of the Champions League as they have to face off against Bayern Leverkusen which are considered to be one of fairly weaker squads of the tournament.

Johan Cabaye and Juan Mata have been linked with PSG but other than that, the team guided by Laurent Blanc can already fight and win for all the trophies they are setting their sights on in this season.
