Successes of PSG

Paris Saint-Germaine remains unbeaten in 27 home games in the European competition including qualifiers with their best ever run being the one at the Parc des Princes. The last time they were defeated goes all the back to 23 November 2006 in the UEFA Cup where they went against Hapoel Tel-Aviv.

Paris Saint-Germaine continues to be undefeated in the last five Champions League knockout games they participated in as well as the last five games against German clubs where they drew two and won three.

Ever since being finalists in 2002, Bayer Leverkusen has never advanced further than the last 16 of the Champions League. Six of the games in the Champions League knockout stages have been lost by Bayer Leverkusen.

This is probably the first time that Paris Saint-Germaine has managed to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League in two campaigns consecutively. Last season, Barcelona managed to knock them out in the quarter finals.

The last time they weren’t able to win was in Porto on 3 October 2012. But since then Paris Saint-Germaine have come up victorious in each and every of their last 15 Champions League games. Whereas, Leverkusen only scored a single goal in each of their last four Champions League games. In the competition they have never been able to score more than three goals away from home.

The only three teams that have accomplished more than 90% of their passes in this season’s Champions League are Paris Saint-Germaine with 90.9%, Barcelona with 90.7% and Bayern Munich with 90.4%.

The maximum ratio among the remaining 16 teams in the competition has been achieved by Bayer Leverkusen that have scored 56% of their goals from set-pieces.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has made a prolific campaign by scoring 10 goals this season itself, scoring seven goals in 31 Champions League knockout games.
