MEDIA TO BLAME FOR PSG INTEREST

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has said that the media are the ones to be blamed for the apparent interest of French club PSG in their star striker Luis Suarez.

After being found guilty of racial abuse, Luis Suarez was further subjected to intense criticism by the media after he snubbed the handshake of Patrice Evra during the recent match between Liverpool and Manchester United at Old Trafford.

It led to the intervention of Liverpool owner John Henry to come out with a statement saying that both Kenny Dalglish and Luis Suarez should apologise for their actions in this incident. Following the intervention, there have been reports that Luis Suarez may be sold in the summer in order to present the image of Liverpool in a good manner.

French club PSG were recently taken over by Qatari investors and they have been spending a lot of money since then. A number of high profile players have come to France to play for them. They were also recently linked with the likes of Carlos Tevez and David Beckham, although both players decided not to move to the French capital. In this situation, recent reports suggested that Luis Suarez is the top target for PSG in the summer.

“It comes as a surprise to myself, that yourselves [journalists] don’t know how the media work. It was a journalist that mentioned the list of names and it was the chairman that said ‘oh they are interesting’. It was a list of names and Suarez’s name was mentioned, but I don’t know if it was Luis Suarez. I don’t know what Suarez it is,” Dalglish told reporters. Even though the 25-year-old has been sensational for Liverpool in each of the match as he has played, his goal scoring form has dipped of late.
