LEONARDO CHASING HIGUAIN

Former Inter Milan manager and current PSG Sporting Director Leonardo has said that the club are interested in signing Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain in the summer. The 25-year-old Argentine has become frustrated with the lack of opportunities at Real Madrid this season, as manager José Mourinho has largely preferred using French striker Karim Benzema in the attack alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. Despite having played very less football, Gonzalo Higuain has an incredible scoring record for the club this season. As a result, he has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu this season.

PSG have been limited with a number of players in the summer transfer window. Gonzalo Higuain has become the latest amongst their transfer targets. It has been rumoured that Leonardo has already had a face-to-face meeting with Gonzalo Higuain in Madrid. However, the former Inter Milan manager has denied such rumours, but has said that he would like to bring Higuain to the club. The Brazilian ace has said that he is aware of the quality possessed by the Argentine. Chelsea have been strongly linked with the 25-year-old in the last few months, but they seem to have cooled off their interest in recent weeks.

“Nasser has never met Kaka or Higuain. The story was written as if it were a truth, but Nasser has never met these players, and nor has anyone else at the club. Today, we are in discussions. Not only with Higuain, but in the global market. You can talk with 15,000 players and do nothing. If Real Madrid decide not to sell him, he will not even be on the market. He has a clause of €150 million, so what should we do? Pay that?!” asked the former Inter Milan manager, who is currently working with former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti at PSG.
