CAVANI WILL BE LEADER

PSG manager Laurent Blanc has stated that striker Edinson Cavani wants to become a leader in the team. The Uruguay striker has been heavily linked with a move away from the club – just under 10 months after his arrival in the summer.

He was signed from Napoli for around £ 60 million and he sits with the likes of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo as some of the most expensive players in the world. However, he has largely been dominated by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been the club’s talisman this campaign.

Cavani was heavily criticised after PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Chelsea. He was disappointing in both legs of the quarter-final against the London outfit. However, since then, his form has dramatically improved. He now has scored three goals in his last few matches, as PSG continue to do with the absence of Ibrahimovic.

Speaking about his improved form to the nederland spanje odds website, Blanc stated that he wants to keep the 27-year-old next season as well. He says that since Cavani wants to be the leader of men, he may be trying a little too hard at times.

In the last few weeks, he has been especially linked with a move to Manchester United, who have emerged as the front-runners for his signature.

“Cavani can be a leader on the field. Off the field, I think it’s more complicated for him to be one. We have other leaders in the group such as Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I think this year’s team has made good progress, both defensively and offensively. It is very satisfying. We took some time to recover from the setback in the Champions League. We still have to get the title. We have to take the title again, this is a nice motivation for the team,” said the manager.
