BLANC WANTS CAVANI

New Paris St Germain manager Laurent Blanc has said that he would love to bring in both Edinson Cavani and Yohan Cabaye before the end of the transfer window. Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has been linked with a whole host of clubs including Chelsea and PSG. After being in the race to sign the Uruguay striker for most of the time, it is believed that Real Madrid and Manchester city have fallen out of the race. PSG are planning to outbid Chelsea by offering £ 50 million for the striker, which will not only break the club record, but it will come close to the release clause of the player’s contract.

Blanc has not rejected the rumours linking PSG with both these players. He has stated that these are players he likes a lot and he would like to have them in his team. Blanc was recently appointed as the replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, who left for Real Madrid. Despite having a vast striking options that includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic, PSG are interested in Cavani in order to make a statement. The club managed to win its first league title in 19 years last season, while they also reached the quarter finals of the Champions League as well.

“He [Cavani]’s a player I love, as do a lot of other people. I saw him play many times for Napoli and for Uruguay and, if it’s possible to add him to the squad, I’d be very happy. He [Cabaye] offers a lot of options in different positions. He’s an interesting player,” said the former Bordeaux and French national team manager. Despite the upheaval of Monaco following the arrival of a rich billionaire owner, PSG – funded by the Middle Eastern owners – are once again the favourites to lift the French league title in the upcoming season.
