Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting the first goal was the turning point in the game on Saturday

In Laurent Blanc’s view, Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting the first goal was the turning point in the game on Saturday which saw PSG securing a huge win of 5 goals to one against Angers SCO in the French League.

Angers had not let PSG bag three points when the two teams had faced each other at Stade Jean-Boulin in December, but, the defending Ligue 1 champions made sure that result was not repeated second time around.

The game was, however, not looking one sided for the initial part, that’s for sure.

But, the moment Ibrahimovic got one away for PSG, it rolled the momentum in their favour and things just kept happening for them thereafter.

And, that is why Blanc pointed out that the opener was very important in the context of the game.

Blanc was quoted as saying, “They were fantastic the last time we had faced them and today as well for the first half an hour or so, they played organized and solid Football.”

“I felt the first goal got us going because we were not having it easy prior to that. Once we got 1-0 up, we took the confidence from that and then, second half I thought was as good as it could have been from our perspective. There were some really beautiful goals.”

When asked if PSG had intended to hand this sort of thrashing to Angers because of the last draw, Blanc said, “No, it was not the case. As I told you, they put on the performance that day and earned the point. It was thoroughly deserved.”

“Today was a different day, different game. We were not thinking about the past result and were just focussed to put another three points on the table.”
