CLAIREFONTAINE ACADEMY CLOCKS 30 IN 2018

Next year would see Clairefontaine academy clock thirty years, and 2018 holds the promises of a befitting anniversary celebration.

The academy has really done a lot, especially as they have continued to produce generations of incredible France international talent.

The Montjoye castle which is located almost 30 miles outside of Paris and in the depths of a forest is a renovated 17th century building with five-star facilities.

It houses the Clairefontaine project, a brainchild of French Football Federation President FernandSastre. This academy was inaugurated in 1988 by President Francois Mitterand.

In no more than a decade, France led by some of Clairefontainefinest graduands such as Thierry Henry won the World Cup.

In no time, they followed it up with a Euro 2000 success while also adding final appearances in both the 2006 World Cup and the Euro 2016 as well.

Former Liverpool manager, Gerard Houllier, who in the early 1990’s worked within the Federation, had something to say about the academy.

“Those buildings are more than a fantastic tool. They are a cornerstone, a vision, a philosophy, a place of unity. When they opened, we could not imagine the role this place would play ten years later.” Read more »

Unai Emery Unhappy with Tactical Show against Monaco

Paris St Germain suffered a shock 3-1 loss against Monaco in the league to lose their 100% start to the season.

The team had managed wins from the opening two games as expected. As the strongest team in the French league by quite a long distance, Paris St Germain are realistically targeting the Champions League in order to gauge the performances of new manager Unai Emery. The former Sevilla boss was brought in as the replacement for Laurent Blanc. After achieving three consecutive Europa League titles with the Spanish club,Emery was seen as the perfect candidate to get European success to the French capital.

Emery already has a tough job on his hands to replace star forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker has been the face of PSG for the last few years, but he has joined Manchester United on a free transfer. Even though he has a ready-made replacement in the form of Edinson Cavani, it is widely perceived that the Uruguay striker is not at the same level as Ibrahimovic. PSG have also not made significant inroads into the transfer market due to financial fair play issues with UEFA. PSG were reasonably good in pre-season, but they were shocking against Monaco.

Scouts from all over Europe watching Ibrahimovic against Bordeaux

Scouts from major European club were present at the match opposing Bordeaux to Paris Saint-Germain to assess Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish international will be out of contract during the summer, and there is a host of European club that might be interested in signing him.

Among the most cited team is Manchester United whose scouts were present at the match. Indeed, the England team will be looking to boost their attacking options next season especially with Wayne Rooney playing in a midfield role. This season the Red Devils have relied too much on Anthony Martial, and they will want a high-profile striker to help them compete for the title next season.

Ibrahimovic, on the other hand, has stated that he is still in talks with Paris Saint-Germain about a possible contract extension but that he is also considering other offers as well.

However, Manchester United scouts were not the only one present at the stadium as it is believed that Borussia Dortmund, Southampton, and Besiktas also have representatives present at the club. Read more »

Laurent Blanc confuse on few things

Laurent Blanc was a bit confused and upset about some of the recent things he’s seen on social media.

This comes after being targeted by Serge Aurier on social media after he had an outburst for whatever reason. He stated that he wasn’t particularly shocked by incident and that he was just frustrated with the situation, that’s all.

This outburst took place in February right after the right back returned to train for the Paris Saint-Germain team. Periscope is an app that lets people stream themselves over Twitter. Unfortunately, people only like to use this app after they’ve had a few too many and end up saying some negative or revealing things. For Aurier, he was using the Periscope app and started making some remarks about quite a few of the PSG teammates.

After, the Ivory Coast defender was suspended by the club and only then did he issue a public apology. Not only that but he was then forced to train with the French Champions’ reserve for the next three weeks. Aurier was given a chance to make some amends after meeting up with Blanc. PSG officially confirmed that the Toulose player would return to train with the first team Thursday afternoon. When speaking to France Info Radio in a prior Thursday recording, Blanc stated that he wasn’t really shocked by the comments made and he wasn’t surprised at all. Read more »

Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting the first goal was the turning point in the game on Saturday

In Laurent Blanc’s view, Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting the first goal was the turning point in the game on Saturday which saw PSG securing a huge win of 5 goals to one against Angers SCO in the French League.

Angers had not let PSG bag three points when the two teams had faced each other at Stade Jean-Boulin in December, but, the defending Ligue 1 champions made sure that result was not repeated second time around.

The game was, however, not looking one sided for the initial part, that’s for sure.

But, the moment Ibrahimovic got one away for PSG, it rolled the momentum in their favour and things just kept happening for them thereafter.

And, that is why Blanc pointed out that the opener was very important in the context of the game.

Blanc was quoted as saying, “They were fantastic the last time we had faced them and today as well for the first half an hour or so, they played organized and solid Football.”

“I felt the first goal got us going because we were not having it easy prior to that. Once we got 1-0 up, we took the confidence from that and then, second half I thought was as good as it could have been from our perspective. There were some really beautiful goals.” Read more »
