PSG THRASH MONACO 5-0

Paris Saint Germain defeated their rivals Monaco 5-0 as both sides clashed in the French Coupe de France semi finals.

The giants booked a final with Angers, a game they are expected to win and lift the title.

The result leaves them clear for a treble this season, despite all the stumbles. Monaco would now have to intensity their Ligue 1 chase and Champions League ambitions. These competitions probably forced Leonardo Jardim to rest his best legs in midfielder TiemoueBakayoko, academy product Almamy Toure and teenage sensation KylianMbappe.

The coach played new faces in their place but they were no match for PSG riddled with stars like EdinsonCavani, Julian Draxler, BlaiseMatuidi and Marquinhos. SafwanMbae scored an own goal to add to the four from the PSG stars to complete the 5-0 rout. Read more »

Marquinhos may leave PSG

Brazilian defender Marquinhos has threatened to leave Paris Saint-Germain if the French club does not allow him to play in the Olympics football tournament.

Marquinhos has already represented Brazil at the Copa America and now want to represent his country at the Olympics competition. The French side has stated that Marquinhos will be better off returning to the club in order to prepare the new season, but the Brazilian defender does not seem to accept this situation.

Marquinhos brother has already stated that the player might be prepared to leave Paris Saint-Germain if ever they prevent him from playing at the Olympics. The Brazilian national team has selected Marquinhos, but no FIFA rule forces the French club to let him go. Most European clubs have offered the choice to the players to play either at the Copa America or the Olympics as it was the case with Neymar and Messi.

Paris St Germain got a Victory over Chelsea

Paris St Germain managed a quite impressive victory over Chelsea in the Champions League last 16 round to reach the quarter-finals yet again. This victory appeared improbable a few days ago after PSG managed to only get a 1-1 draw in the first leg at home.

The fact that Chelsea had an away goal under their belt made the blues favourite to progress to the quarter-finals. However, a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge meant that it was the French club who progressed to the latter stages of the European competition. PSG had come back three times in this tie and midfielder Blaise Matuidi reckons that the coach Laurent Blanc had a major impact.

Blanc suffered defeat at the hands of Mourinho and Chelsea at a similar stage last season. However, he was not going to let that happen once again after he produced an impressive set of tactics that prevented Chelsea from playing their game. Despite chasing the game with 10 men for most of the match – including extra time, PSG were the better team. Blanc’s position at the club has been coming under much threat over the last few months, as the club has not been unable to produce consistent form domestically. Read more »
