Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting the first goal was the turning point in the game on Saturday

In Laurent Blanc’s view, Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting the first goal was the turning point in the game on Saturday which saw PSG securing a huge win of 5 goals to one against Angers SCO in the French League.

Angers had not let PSG bag three points when the two teams had faced each other at Stade Jean-Boulin in December, but, the defending Ligue 1 champions made sure that result was not repeated second time around.

The game was, however, not looking one sided for the initial part, that’s for sure.

But, the moment Ibrahimovic got one away for PSG, it rolled the momentum in their favour and things just kept happening for them thereafter.

And, that is why Blanc pointed out that the opener was very important in the context of the game.

Blanc was quoted as saying, “They were fantastic the last time we had faced them and today as well for the first half an hour or so, they played organized and solid Football.”

“I felt the first goal got us going because we were not having it easy prior to that. Once we got 1-0 up, we took the confidence from that and then, second half I thought was as good as it could have been from our perspective. There were some really beautiful goals.” Continue reading Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting the first goal was the turning point in the game on Saturday

EdinsonCavani will not be sold

For the past few months, the Uruguayan attacker EdinsonCavani was believed to be unhappy in PSG due to his role in the French club as he has to play in a wide position which isn’t his preferred role but since ZlatanIbrahimovic is in the team as well, Cavani is the one who is being used as a scapegoat.

Napoli was being linked with a move to Cavani. It was with the Italian club where Cavani truly managed to stand out and make performances at a high level but the president of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al Khelaifi has shut down the rumors that were linking Cavani with a move away from the club.

Nasser Al Khelaifi stated that EdinsonCavani is the future of PSG and will not be sold.

“Of course.Cavani is the future of the club. He’s a great player, a great striker, a great man. There’s no problem.”

Even though the president of Paris Saint-Germain shut down the rumors that involved Cavani being sold during the summer transfer window, this hasn’t stopped reports from emerging. More and more clubs appear to be interested in signing the Uruguayan forward including: Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Juventus. Continue reading EdinsonCavani will not be sold

Paris St Germain got a Victory over Chelsea

Paris St Germain managed a quite impressive victory over Chelsea in the Champions League last 16 round to reach the quarter-finals yet again. This victory appeared improbable a few days ago after PSG managed to only get a 1-1 draw in the first leg at home.

The fact that Chelsea had an away goal under their belt made the blues favourite to progress to the quarter-finals. However, a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge meant that it was the French club who progressed to the latter stages of the European competition. PSG had come back three times in this tie and midfielder Blaise Matuidi reckons that the coach Laurent Blanc had a major impact.

Blanc suffered defeat at the hands of Mourinho and Chelsea at a similar stage last season. However, he was not going to let that happen once again after he produced an impressive set of tactics that prevented Chelsea from playing their game. Despite chasing the game with 10 men for most of the match – including extra time, PSG were the better team. Blanc’s position at the club has been coming under much threat over the last few months, as the club has not been unable to produce consistent form domestically. Laurent Blanc and team under Difficult Time

Laurent Blanc and his squad are having a much more difficult time in this season in comparison to the previous campaign where they managed to win the French League by a whopping 9 points but this time around PSG is competing just stay in the top 4 spots.

Their latest league match concluded with a surprising 4-2 defeat when facing off with the relegation threatened club Bastia. A few weeks prior to this loss and PSG had to settle with a goal-less when playing against Montpellier, these aren’t the kind of results that a club such as PSG is accustomed to see but it’s happening on a frequent basis in this season as the amount of money that the owners of the French club have been spending in these past few years are supposed to help the club in avoiding these kinds of results. Edinson Cavani condemns rumors joining other Teams

Paris St Germain striker Edinson Cavani has ruled out the possibility of joining the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United during the upcoming January transfer window. This comes as a major disappointment for the Premier League clubs who were looking to sign the 27-year-old. It has been reported that he is unhappy at the French club primarily because of the importance his rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been getting. Ibrahimovic’s presence has been Cavani being played on the wings more often than not. Even though he has started in a central position this campaign due to the injury problems for Ibrahimovic, he has not been able to match the same scoring form as the Swede.

Signed for a mammoth £ 60 million from Napoli only two years ago, it is believed that Cavani is on the verge of an exit. The striker, though, laughed off suggestions that he may join one of the Premier League clubs. He has recalled that transfer rumours have followed him wherever he has grown in his career and this includes his previous stint at Napoli. Signing a player like Cavani is going to require at least £ 50 million in transfer fees, as PSG will not want to give up on one of their top assets on the cheap.

“Even when I have doubts in my head, I always arrived at the conclusion that I am happy at PSG.The supporters and all the people at the club make me feel at home. In football, money is not the only motivation.Of course every player tries to find a more comfortable economic situation but there is also the place, the club which you play, which is important. I don’t think I spoke about that [leaving PSG], and nor did the president [Nasser] al-Khelaifi,” said Cavani.
