Edinson Cavani condemns rumors joining other Teams

Paris St Germain striker Edinson Cavani has ruled out the possibility of joining the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United during the upcoming January transfer window. This comes as a major disappointment for the Premier League clubs who were looking to sign the 27-year-old. It has been reported that he is unhappy at the French club primarily because of the importance his rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been getting. Ibrahimovic’s presence has been Cavani being played on the wings more often than not. Even though he has started in a central position this campaign due to the injury problems for Ibrahimovic, he has not been able to match the same scoring form as the Swede.

Signed for a mammoth £ 60 million from Napoli only two years ago, it is believed that Cavani is on the verge of an exit. The striker, though, laughed off suggestions that he may join one of the Premier League clubs. He has recalled that transfer rumours have followed him wherever he has grown in his career and this includes his previous stint at Napoli. Signing a player like Cavani is going to require at least £ 50 million in transfer fees, as PSG will not want to give up on one of their top assets on the cheap.

“Even when I have doubts in my head, I always arrived at the conclusion that I am happy at PSG.The supporters and all the people at the club make me feel at home. In football, money is not the only motivation.Of course every player tries to find a more comfortable economic situation but there is also the place, the club which you play, which is important. I don’t think I spoke about that [leaving PSG], and nor did the president [Nasser] al-Khelaifi,” said Cavani.
