CAVANI HEADS TO PSG

French club PSG have been one of the big spenders in the transfer window once again. The arrival of Edinson Cavani from Napoli has significantly altered the former line-up of the French club, who already most of the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish international, though, has been constantly linked with a return to Italian football in the last few weeks. This may lead to PSG once again getting back into the transfer window to sign a striker. They have long been linked with a move for Manchester United’s hitman Wayne Rooney.

The 27-year-old has expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford a few months ago. He will cost in the region of £ 30 million, which would not be a problem for PSG. His wages of around £ 200,000 per week will also be very miniscule for the club, which recently spent £ 55 million on Cavani. However, Rooney is not one of the players that the club is targeting right now according to manager Laurent Blanc. He recently replaced Carlo Ancelotti at the French club. Since the last few weeks, there have been several changes at PSG including the departure of technical director Leonardo.

This has been followed by a drop in interest for Rooney.

“Wayne Rooney is a magnificent player but we’re very well covered in attack. We have to see what we can do in midfield. If there is another arrival, it will be in this sector,” said Blanc. The arrival of Cavani, who was chased by the club for several weeks, is thought to have reduced their appetite for the striker. The club, though, have not still finished their summer business because they are targeting at least the semi-final place in the Champions League this season. They were knocked out in the quarter-finals last time around.
